THE South West District Football Umpires League is looking for some fresh blood to complement what is an aging and dwindling team of umpires.
The umpiring body is holding a meeting at South West House in Portland on Wednesday night to discuss the up-coming season of the South West District Football League and urges anyone who might be interested in becoming involved to attend at 7pm.
SWDFUL president Roger Merrett said umpire numbers had been in decline for a number of years now and with the majority of the South West’s umpires now aged over 50 an opportunity was there for a new generation to take up the baton.
“We have been struggling for numbers for a little while now,” Merrett said.
