JENNY Pole has claimed the women’s singles championship of the Hamilton Bowling Club for a second time.
Pole overcame extreme weather conditions and a spirited opponent in Miriam Tonissen to claim victory in the final.
Play last Tuesday morning had to be stopped due to the extreme heat.
At that stage Pole led 23-18 after both finalists bowled superbly in the difficult conditions.
Pole picked up the necessary shots upon the resumption of play to secure the championship crown.
It was her second club singles crown and her third overall.
She started her bowling career at Birchip nearly 20 years ago.
It was there where she won her first club singles championship during her three years with the club.
Pole described the final as “very tough” when she spoke to the Hamilton Spectator.
“She’s a good bowler … she’s a new up-and-coming bowler,” the new club champion said.
Little separated both bowlers throughout an enthralling final, which was heightened by the extreme heat.
“She gave me a run for my money,” Pole said.
