THE Hamilton and Alexandra College has a new director of music in Ben Hiscock.
Originally from the Hamilton area, Mr Hiscock has come back to the town to live and work after more than 20 years away.
“It has always been a dream to come back to the country; I have always loved the country,” he said.
Mr Hiscock left Hamilton after he finished his Victorian Certificate of Education in 1991 and went straight to the University in Melbourne to study music.
“I then lived in Bendigo for a while and worked with a theatre company, went overseas for a while, then went back to Melbourne and decided to do a teaching degree,” he said.
Mr Hiscock said he chose to teach music as it was dynamic.
“Students have a lot of energy and a lot to give and from a music sense they can be really creative as they haven’t been aged,” he said.
Before coming to the Hamilton and Alexandra College, Mr Hiscock was head of music at Xavier College Junior School at Burke Hall in Kew for 12 years.
