SATURDAY’S high temperatures inland caused havoc with Division One and Two bowls … most games were abandoned.
Down south all games were completed.
The ladders of Round 12 therefore are the ones that dictate Division One finals combinations.
The games that were completed, however, deserve reporting on.
The first one being both Portland sides, Gold and Blue.
Gold won one rink, that of Lindsay Gruar by 18 shots.
Blues’ Ron Langford and Brian Nolte rinks scored 24s, but their opponents kept the margins to four and two respectively.
The other Portland green up south at Memorial was a pretty busy place and the Division One side had a visit from Penshurst.
The preview suggested a rink to the visitors in a loss and that was pretty much how it was.
Ken Evans’ rink up by nine, Graeme Solly by one.
Trevor Landwehr countered by the same margin and the final margin was nine shots.
Both games’ winning scores were 73 losing 61 and 62.
The outcome Memorial may be lamenting is they would have finished on top of the ladder by one point, but there is no home-and-away prize.
