NEW York City was John Lennon’s town and for that reason, John Waters always dreamed of taking his tribute show to the Big Apple.
Now the Australian stage and television actor is finally getting that chance.
But before US audiences get to delight in the joy that is Looking Through A Glass Onion, the performance is returning to Hamilton for the second time in its 22 year history.
Perhaps best known for his 20-year stint on Play School, and more recently his appearance in popular series Offspring, Mr Waters started his career as a singer in the 1960s band The Riot in his native England.
He originally arrived in Australia on tour then after staying on a holiday visa decided to make the move permanent.
In 1992 Mr Waters got a call from the guy who ran Sydney’s Tilbury Hotel asking him if had a show to perform because an act had fallen through.
Without hesitation he replied yes.
