“IT will be nice to be Jim Fletcher again and not Jim Fletcher the CEO; he’s probably got a bit lost.”
Jim Fletcher is a husband, father-of-four and grandfather-of-nine, but for the past 14 years his number one relationship has been with Western District Health Service.
Family time was just one of many sacrifices that came with running the biggest organisations in the region, employing more than 800 staff on four campuses.
But after 44 years in the public sector, more than two decades of which have been in chief executive roles, Jim has announced his retirement.
It’s a decision his wife has been asking him to make for five years – and for good reason.
“In the last 23 years we would have only lived together for about 50 per cent of that time,” Jim said.
