THE Glenelg and Southern Grampians Local Learning and Employment Network (GSGLLEN) is joining forces with PortlandSouthPrimary School to improve parental engagement.
Last Tuesday morning marked the first of several proposed activities to help new families adjust to the school environment, with the Parent Buddy system.
GSGLLEN partnership broker Cathryn Walder said that it was important parents felt they could approach the school community for the benefit of their children’s school experience.
“It all comes under the theme of ‘helping my child’ and it all comes down to staying connected,” Mrs Walder said.
With 10 new families at the school this year, principal Marg Millard hopes to ease the transition for students and parents.
