STAY Residential Services has set up an appeal to raise $100,000 towards a new head office in Hamilton.
The disability services provider has purchased an office building at 46 Brown St, but needs a further $150,000 to renovate the building to ensure it is inclusive and accessible.
It is the first time the not-for-profit organisation has launched a major fundraiser in its 30 years of providing accommodation, support programs and services for people with a disability in the Hamilton region.
The appeal has been given a generous kick-start from Hamilton philanthropist and businessman, Geoff Handbury OAM, who donated $50,000, with $100,000 now being sought from the community.
STAY chief executive officer, Maree Sandford said the organisation had simply outgrown its current head office in Alexandra Parade, which was purchased six years ago.
She said STAY had no longer been able to operate client programs or staff meetings at the main office and instead had been using one of its residences.
