A HAMILTON man charged with culpable driving that resulted in the death of his mate will face a committal hearing in May.
Todd Cooper Templeton, 20, of Sobeys Rd, this week appeared in Warrnambool Magistrate’s Court in relation to seven charges, including culpable driving resulting in death.
Mr Templeton and Alexander Trotter were both 19 years old when, just before 3am on December 7, 2012, the blue sedan they were travelling in left Mount Baimbridge Rd, rolled and came to rest against a power pole.
The accused was placed on life support and airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious head, facial and internal injuries.
His friend, Mr Trotter, died at the scene.
At the time of the accident, Hamilton Acting Superintendent Nick Finnegan told The Spectator speed was being investigated as a factor in the crash; police will allege the accused was driving at a speed close to 200 kilometres an hour.
