PORTLAND Secondary College students are hosting the Vintage High Tea fundraiser on Sunday March 2 with proceeds going towards Peter’s Project.
With the goal of Peter’s Project being to bring an integrated cancer centre to Warrnambool to minimise time spent travelling for treatment, the fundraiser adds to a tremendous influx of support from the local and surrounding community.
Warrnambool’s Vicki Jellie founded the project after she lost her husband Peter more than five years ago after a 20-week fight against cancer.
Peter’s Project has already gathered support at both State and Federal governments to help reach the $30 million cost to build.
With the State contributing $15 million and the Federal $10 million, $5 million was left to be raised by the community which has already raised more than $4 million.
Students completing their Certificate III in Catering Operations at the school have volunteered their time and services to take on the front of house roles to help contribute to the day.
