RACEHORSE owner Maurice Noske has continued his successful union with Stawell trainer Paul Jones through five-year-old mare, Spanish Vixen.
Victory in last week’s Grampians Halls Gap Cup over 2000m at Ararat completed a hat-trick of wins for the daughter of Al Samer.
The mare’s successful summer period began back on January 9 when she defeated a 0-68 field at Penola with Dom Tourneur riding.
From there she trekked just down the road from her home base to take out the Great Western Cup before adding last week’s cup to her record.
On both those occasions promising apprentice Lily Coombe piloted the promising stayer to victory.
Coombe is apprenticed to Matthew Williams at Warrnambool, and her three kilogram claim has certainly been a big factor in the recent wins.
The Ararat win was a solid effort as she jumped quickly and after being rated well in front careered away to an easy win by more than two lengths.
