A PART of the abandoned Argyle Hotel will be put to use from Monday when the Hamilton Uniting Church opens its new Bargain Centre.
The centre, which will open from 10am-5pm Monday to Fridays and 10am to 1pm Saturdays, will offer a range of secondhand items, including household white goods and equipment, furniture and books.
Spokesperson Colin Watt said all proceeds would go to the church and selected community projects.
“It’s not an op-shop, we’ve got plenty of op-shops around town,” Mr Watt said.
“We want to do something different to them.
“This is an outlet for larger and bulkier items like furniture, fridges and washing machines.”
