A SHARP Airlines metroliner skidded off the runway while landing at PortlandAirport at 2.30pm on Thursday when the left undercarriage wheel malfunctioned.
The two pilots and 10 passengers onboard were unharmed and the only damage was to the wheel.
Sharp Airlines managing director Malcolm Sharp said no-one was injured, however procedures and precautions following the incident meant the plane couldn’t be moved until Friday evening or Saturday morning.
“The Air Traffic Safety Bureau need to have a representative on site to investigate before anything can be touched and the left wheel was quite badly bogged so we needed to contact the manufacturers in America before attempting to move it,” Mr Sharp said.
