HAMILTON’S new Coles supermarket could be open in time for Christmas.
State property manager for Victoria and Tasmania, Paul Banks said the first stage of building works had begun on Wednesday with sewer reconstructions.
“The sewer that needs moving is halfway in the carpark but it is being done so customers can still access the carpark,” Mr Banks said.
“Further works will commence in March with commencement of the building in May.”
Mr Banks said the project was expected to take little under a year to complete.
“At the moment the program is telling us that in March next year it will be finished,” he said.
“But we’re going to try and see if we can get in before Christmas this year.”
It has taken nearly six years to get the project to this point.
