THE Hamilton Racing Club has suffered from an influx of summer racing in the region, with only a six race card set for tomorrow.
While meetings in the area are great for the south-west trainers and owners, you really have to question the programming of four “local” meetings in the space of 10 days.
Camperdown staged the Colac Cup last Sunday, Warrnambool raced on Tuesday and after racing at Hamilton this Friday we then head to Terang next Tuesday.
Fields were reasonable at Camperdown, but the Warrnambool meeting was sub-standard as is Hamilton with the feature race, the BM70 and one of the Maidens being eliminated due to very few acceptances.
Time will tell how Terang hold up for next week.
With that we still need to find a winner for our punters.
My three best bets are all trained by metropolitan based trainers … Robbie Griffiths, Luke Oliver & Peter Moody.
Griffiths saddles up Miss Haystacks in the opening race and although her form reads ordinary on paper, she meets a weak field tomorrow.
