THE best touch footballers from across western Victoria will descend on Portland on Sunday for the final round of this season’s Westerns Affiliates Cup.
Portland Touch Association head coach Cecilia Eichler said the fact Touch Victoria had chosen to conclude the Cup in Portland this year was a terrific endorsement of the progress Portland had made in recent years.
“This is the second year in a row they have brought this event to us, which shows we are getting up there,” Eichler said.
“We are doing really well, we recently went to Macedon for a round of the Cup and though numbers were a little short, particularly in the men, the women won three of the four games, including beating the men’s 40 Macedon Players 4-2, which was huge.”
Sides from Ballarat, MacedonRanges, Portland and Geelong will compete at HentyPark in Portland across men’s, women’s and mixed divisions from 10am on Sunday.
