LABOR’S Michael Barling was the only Wannon candidate to put their own money into the 2013 federal election campaign.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has published returns from all candidates across Australia this week, which record personal donations and funds were used for official campaign activities.
Mr Barling declared that he had spent $1320 on publishing electoral advertisements, a sum which could have included production costs.
Mr Barling said he was “a little surprised” to learn that he was the only candidate who spent personal funds on official campaign activities.
“That ($1320) was the sum total of what I spent on putting posters on the van, which was done through a company in Warrnambool,” he said.
