HAMILTON Little Athletic Centre was well represented last weekend at the Western Country Region Track and Field Championships at Brauer Park in Warrnambool.
Twelve young up-and-coming athletes, all from the Hamilton district who attend Hamilton Little Athletic Centre (HLAC), had a fantastic weekend of running, jumping or throwing.
Two of these young athletics broke WCR records … Britt-Annie McMahon and Chad Dymke … in a fantastic effort.
Well done to the both of them.
The WCR Track and Field Championships are a stepping stone to the State Track and Field Championships at Albert Park in Melbourne each year.
To be eligible to compete at this level, an athlete must win their event at a region level.
Unfortunately not all can compete at the states as the Under 6-Under 8 and Under 16 miss out.
Qualifying age groups are Under 9-Under 15 … hence the name “Little Athletics”.
This is where HLAC competitor Britt-Annie McMahon, who has competed since the age of Under 6 on a regular Wednesday night, moves on due to the age requirements governed by Little Athletics Victoria.
