EXCITEMENT is building among sedan fans as Hamilton’s Western Speedway gets set to host tonight’s program.
The meet will showcase the VSSA Formula E Go Karts Sunshine Super Sedan Series event, along with the V8 Dirt Modified Rods Garden State Shield (Round One), the 3.0 litre Sedan Western Classic, and support racing for junior sedans.
A quality field of super sedan competitors are set to do battle, with current series leader Ash Bergmeier out to maintain his position on the leaderboard.
The likes of the formidable Nicola team … Michael, Peter and Michael Jnr … will provide some very strong competition, if past efforts are anything to go by.
From South Australia will be David Gartner, who is another well known identity at Hamilton, both in the street stocks in his early years and now in the very competitive super sedan arena.
He will be joined by fellow South Australians, Caleb and Barry Perrett.
Victorian based drivers David McKenzie, Sean Lister, Anthony Randall, Ben Falkhead, Neil Witnish, John Karnilowicz and Ian Page have also confirmed their appearance.
Nominations will be accepted up until the night.
This event should give speedway fans a taste of sedan racing prior to their Victorian Title here on April 12.
So if you like the sound of V8 engines and the thrill of seeing the big bangers charge around the track, officials hope that tonight’s events will whet the appetite.
The V8 Dirt Modified Rods are making a welcome return to Hamilton after several years.
They will contest Round One of their Garden State Shield Series, with the second round to be run at Avalon Raceway on the Labour Day weekend.
