A MEETING to begin establishing a suicide support network will be held in April following last a recent presentation by Wesley LifeForce representatives.
The meeting proposed establishing a branch of the Community Suicide Prevention Network in Portland.
Wesley LifeForce networks manager Tony Cassidy said the meeting attracted 17 members of the Portland community, all of whom voted to establish a support network with Wesley LifeForce assistance.
“At the meeting we discussed some of the issues surrounding suicides in the area, ways of dealing with those issues and explained what the network is about,” Mr Cassidy said.
“We got a very positive response.”
The next meeting, to be held at the Richmond Henty Blue Room, will focus on establishing a local committee for the support group and is once again open to all members of the community.
