TWO Hamilton churches are preparing to have a flipping good time today.
The Uniting and Anglican churches will host separate Shrove Tuesday fundraisers, to mark the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.
Known by many as Pancake Tuesday, people will have an opportunity to purchase pancakes from the churches with money raised to go to charity.
Hamilton Uniting Church’s Reverend Peter Cook said this would be the 12th year his church had participated in Pancake Day, with funds raised helping a lot of people.
“The people like it when the churches get involved in these sorts of things,” Rev Cook said.
“It’s been going quite a few years.
“Proceeds always go to various projects to support needy causes and in our case a parenting program called Mother Goose.
Uniting church members will be selling pancakes from 10am until 2pm in the empty building under Harvey Norman, with access through the Safeway car park.
