SOUTHERN Grampians Shire will spend up to $50,000 over the next four months to promote the ‘Greater Hamilton’ brand after winning a Government Communications award for its marketing campaign so far.
The shire won ‘Best Communications/Engagement by a Shire Council’ award at a ceremony in Melbourne last week for its new slogan and ‘shard’ logo which represents Hamilton and its surrounding towns.
The consulting agency which authored the slogan and logo, ‘icon.pr’ was also recognised at the ceremony.
Consultants shared in a budget of $25,000 allocated for drafting the new campaign, which included the slogan ‘one place many possibilities’.
Shire chief executive, Richard Perry said the publicity campaign would begin soon with its budget set until June.
“$50,000 was allocated to implement the Greater Hamilton branding during the 2013-14 financial year, and council will decide if more money is to be allocated in next year’s budget,” he said.
