FOUR members of the Portland BMX Club have been selected to attend the South West Academy of Sport as the group looks to embark on a successful career in the sport.
The South West Academy of Sport is a prestigious organisation which aims to nurture and develop available talent in their chosen fields.
Brad Jasper, Rhys Jones, Jesse Ryan and Zak Denham have all accepted invitations to pursue BMX riding at the academy.
CEO of SWAS Ann Sissons was excited by the opportunity the four athletes will now have courtesy of the academy.
“We have decided that we would look at who was doing well around the area and target some athletes and these are four of the ones on the pathway who wanted to do the extra work and do the extra coaching,” Sissons explained.
“We are trying to develop elite riders to be able to get the recognition that they need to.”
