BRANXHOLME WALLACEDALE looks set to build on its improvement last year with some quality signings already inking their place amongst the Saints for the upcoming South West District Football Netball season.
Perhaps the biggest news is the appointment of former Glenthompson Dunkeld forward Sam Brewer as assistant coach, something which has thrilled senior coach Peter Downs.
“We’ve been very happy to have Sam sign as assistant coach this season,” he said.
“He signed just before Christmas and he’s been very forward helping with recruiting and taking the bulk amount of the training, so it’s exciting for the club and very exciting for the young group.”
Brewer too is excited about the challenge of helping to bring the Saints closer to a finals campaign after getting over a few injury problems.
“I went up to Port Douglas for 12 months and probably played eight games for the year after coming back from surgery, so I’m working on getting back to full fitness,” Brewer said.
“Taking training has got me pretty motivated and it’s a good learning curve for me as well.
“I’m looking forward to the year, especially with my uncle who’s hopefully going to get out onto the track as well, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
