THE time has come.
After nearly six months of cricket the Gray Nicolls HDJCA Under 14 grand final has arrived and the two leading teams of the season, Southern Pumas and Hamilton, will descend on Mitchell Park to play off for this season’s premiership.
Andy Lambert has been assigned the task of officiating at the biggest game of the year in this age group and this morning and tomorrow morning will be filled with some tense and top quality junior cricket.
The Justin Coote coached Southern Pumas will go into the match as warm favourites after its demolition job on St Mary’s in the semi final and overall dominance throughout the year, but the beauty of a grand final is that anything at all can happen and Hamilton certainly has the players at hand who could very easily upset the Pumas’ applecart.
The key to this match is going to be how the Southern Pumas top order performs and unless Hamilton can keep its fielding poised and ready to pounce on every hit ball and the bowlers keep a tight line, they are the one’s who can blow the game apart.
