SALLY Leeworthy no longer dreads driving thanks to a brand new Kia Carnival bought with $75,000 raised from the Hamilton Lions Club ‘Wheels for Marie and Jarrah’ community appeal.
The new van, which has been modified to accompany two wheelchairs, is perfect for the Leeworthy family.
Marie and Jarrah Leeworthy both suffer from the extremely rare Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T) condition which causes the incessant weakening of their muscles and immune system.
This new vehicle will enable their mum, Sally, to travel to Melbourne with both of them sitting comfortably in the vehicle as well as their two siblings Sage and Zoey, without breaking down.
“I have already had a trip to Melbourne, it went really well and I didn’t have to stress about getting there,” Ms Leeworthy said.
“It is a lot easier to drive and we can go through the car wash and drive throughs now.”
