THE Salvation Army says it is struggling to provide much-needed community programs in Hamilton as it contemplates another year without a local officer.
That is despite business at the Salvos’ Gray St Thrift Shop being busier than ever.
Bob and Fay Kennett, who have volunteered at the shop for the past 13 years and been in charge for 12, say they couldn’t be more pleased with the support they’ve received from volunteers and donators alike.
They currently employ 17 volunteers and receive so many donations they often can’t take everything in, regularly donating excess inventory to other local thrift shops.
It’s a problem the couple say they’re more than happy to have.
