THE weather was fine and the crowds were out in force at the various sporting venues in Casterton at the weekend.
Pigeon Ponds demolished Casterton in the Casterton District Cricket Association’s final at the weekend by dismissing the home side cheaply on the first day of the two-day final and then comprehensively mauled the Maroons’ attack later that afternoon and again on the second day to finish the season on a high note.
The Casterton and District Tennis Association provided some ripping games in its two semi-finals last Saturday and the final promises to be a hard-fought event as well.
The Casterton Polocrosse Club’s annual tournament celebrated its 60th anniversary in style with 19 clubs venturing to the south-west to take part in the two-day event. Many stories were told during the course of the weekend and at the social evening and auction held in the club room Saturday night.
