PORTLAND will be looking to use the Hampden Football Netball League’s preseason cup, the Boags Cup, as an opportunity to test out some players and fine tune game plans at Gardens Oval in Port Fairy tommorow.
New Portland senior football coach Jake Myles said this would be his side’s first real hit out at full intensity and he was looking forward to seeing how his some of his players go when the pressure goes up a notch.
“This is our first hit out for the year, so we want to get used to hitting bodies and work on the things we have been working on through the preseason, the way we move the footy and getting those competitive juices back,” Myles said.
“We definitely won’t be full strength, but we will take over a reasonable squad I think.
“We are definitely going to give all of the kids a go through the midfield, that is our aim this week.
