THE Narrawong District Association is pushing for two key walking tracks linking the township to the beach to be upgraded.
The two areas include the area from the footbridge across the SurryRiver to the cleared access paths to the Narrawong store, and the East St easement access track from the Esplanade to the beach.
Association president Owen Roberts and secretary Judy Sisson said the main concern about the track near the footbridge was safety.
“The area is overgrown, there are too many areas where undesirable people can be hidden from view,” they said.
“It is the main link that children use when they walk to the store from the beach or the caravan park … this whole area needs clearing because it is also a haven for rabbits and snakes.”
The association is waiting on the Glenelg Shire Council to provide details of a contact within the Department of Environment and Primary Industries to see what can be achieved in the area.
