THE blazing run of good form from Hamilton water ski racer Mason Vaughan and his team, Carlton Dry Racing, has continued with an amazing win at the Robinvale Euston Ski Race over the weekend.
After winning the Southern 80 at Echuca, the team went to Robinvale full of hope for another good result, but could not have foreseen a problem which should have scuttled any chance of victory.
Competing in the Unlimited Inboard Social event on the first day, the Carlton Dry Racing team suffered a problem with the engine during its second run, but despite having to back off the pace dramatically, somehow were still able to be fast enough to win.
“I’m surprised with winning on the weekend,” Vaughan said.
“We had a good run to the halfway mark.
“Taking off second at the start, we made time up on ‘Gotta Be Crazy’ to the half way mark, so we were set to be first on the way home because of our faster run.
“We were up on the record time as well, so on the way home we would have been faster having better water!”
