IT was a clean sweep for Hamilton gardener Isobel Millard at the Portland Dahlia and Rose Festival.
Her stunning roses were chosen from a broad selection to win not only the overall rose championship award, but the championship open rose and cut flower sections as well.
Her husband Bruce Millard also had a top weekend, winning the Noel Edge and Glenelg Shire Championship awards in the dahlia section.
With the cruise ship in town and other events, it was a big weekend in Portland and the flower reaped the benefits.
Between the two of them, Mr Millard estimated they put up 250 blooms for the show.
“It was a good weekend with a good turnout – probably one of the best we’ve had for quite a few years,” Mr Millard said.
“I went quite well and was happy with my effort.
