SHE never imagined she would reach it, but Hamilton’s Vera Milbourne celebrated her 105th birthday on Saturday.
As to the secret of how to live so long, Mrs Milbourne puts it down to a “long line of livers” and also being active.
“We did a lot of walking (as kids), living on a farm there is plenty to do and it was a two and a half mile walk to school,” she said.
Several celebrations were held last week and during the weekend for the milestone, including a visit from Wannon MP, Dan Tehan.
“It is exciting up to a point, I didn’t think there would be so much attached to it,” she said.
“It’s amazing really; you don’t think these things that you are going to live to these ages.”
Mrs Milbourne is one of 12 siblings and grew up in Natimuk, west of Horsham.
