THE Napthine Government is refusing to budge on a funding offer that leaves Hamilton’s National Centre for Farmer Health facing certain closure.
Western District Health Centre chief executive officer, Jim Fletcher said he remained baffled by the government’s disinterest in the centre and its international award winning programs.
It follows a bake delivered in State Parliament last week by Labor Western Victoria upper house MP, Gayle Tierney, who accused Health Minister, David Davis, of ignoring the centre for more than two years.
“Western Victoria deserves better, and farmers certainly do,” Ms Tierney said.
The State Government has pledged $250,000, but will only provide the money if the Federal Government chips in $750,000.
