SOME people argue you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but one former Western District person is convinced the same does not apply to pet owners.
Stephanie Travers has created Australia’s first dedicated first-aid for pets course.
Since launching her business – Doggy and Moggy First Aid for Pets – in 2011, Ms Travers says she has been inundated with requests for classes.
This includes for the first time recently in Hamilton at the invite of local pet grooming business, Dog on George.
Ms Travers said the hands-on course empowered pet owners to deal with any emergency situation they might encounter with their cat or dog.
“There is more and more expectation that people who work with animals, like veterinarians, and even casual pet owners have some knowledge of animal first-aid,” she said.
