AUSTRALIA’S 100 Victoria Cross recipients, including Hamilton’s own Ted Kenna, will soon be honoured in a travelling art exhibition.
The exhibition, titled ‘Australian War Heroes’, will form part of the nation’s Centenary of the Anzacs celebrations.
It will be unveiled at gala dinner at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne on May 21.
Event manager, Sue Mason said the exhibition would contain 40 large oil paintings and 60 pastel sketches from artist Joe Zapp, depicting the deeds of valour performed by VC recipients.
These include Private Kenna and Borung-born Captain Albert Borella, who spent his years between serving in World Wars One and Two farming on a soldier settlement block at Hensley Park, near Hamilton.
Ms Mason said the unique project was intended to commemorate more than a century of service by Australian servicemen.
