THE ambition’s of three of the region’s brightest young sports stars have been boosted thanks to the Federal Government’s Local Sporting Champions Grants scheme.
Athlete Harris Jennings, badminton player Temika Gay and cricketer Tim Goodman will receive assistance to compete in state and national competitions.
The talented trio were presented with their grants by federal Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan.
Gay, a student at Baimbridge College in Hamilton, represented Badminton Victoria at the Val Nebit Under 15 Carnival in Sydney last September and October.
She travels form her home in Macarthur to Warrnambool weekly for competition and specialised training and plays in tournaments across Victoria throughout the year.
Goodman represented the Western Waves at the Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Boys Cricket Championships earlier this year.
The 17-year-old, who plays A grade cricket with Hamilton, has been a member of the Waves pathway program since he was 11 after being hand-picked playing primary school cricket.
