DRUMWOOD produced a sterling performance in the Surry District Tennis Association C grade grand final on Saturday morning at Heathmere to take a 7-2 win over Lawn.
The despite the final scoreline the sets were quite close throughout the day, with Drumwood simply being able to get over the line in the crucial games at the end.
The boys were a great contest, with Drumwood’s Peter Clover and Lawn’s Aiden Rogers having a great battle at the number three position, with both of their sets in the boys- doubles going 6-5 to Drumwood.
The top seeded boys’ set also went Drumwood’s way, giving the side a handy lead.
Lawn’s Clare Perkins and Hannah Milligan kept their side in the mix with a great 6-4 win in the lower seeded girls’ set, however with Gabrielle Howard playing strongly at number one for Drumwood her side got over the line with the remaining two girls’ sets 6-4, 6-2 to have the match in the bag 5-1 at the break.
