IF you were not one of the large crowd on hand at Mitchell Park on Saturday who witnessed the 2013-14 HDCA D grade grand final, it is going to be hard for you to truly understand just how great this match really was.
The short version of events is simple…Grampians defeated Tahara by one run.
But it is not as simple as ‘wow that was close’… this was a game which had absolutely everything and had the big crowd sighing, gasping, yelling encouragement and chewing their nails right down to their wrists, right to the very last ball.
There was tremendous bowling, batting collapses and saviours, dropped catches, big hits and in the end, triumph and tragedy because neither Grampians nor Tahara deserved to go home without the premiership.
Grampians came into the game as hot favourites, having lost just once and on the verge of a 15-game winning streak.
However, the Pumas are an extremely young team and up against the experienced Blue Caps, would their resolve hold on the highest pressure day for them all?
