THE Casterton Friendship Force celebrated 21 years since its formation by hosting visitors from Sydney. Other Friendship Force branch members to join the celebrations came from Mt Gambier and Mt Barker plus many locals who also helped out when Friendship Force needed extra hosts.
The celebrations started at the Town Hall where the Glenelg Shire President Cr. John Northcote welcomed everyone to Casterton.
Ken McEachern gave an outline of how the club was formed at meeting held in Casterton in March 1993. Ken and Bernie McEachern were members of the Mt Gambier branch and thought Casterton could form a branch of Friendship Force and set about making it happen.
Twenty-one years on and many visitors have graced our town thanks to their initiative.
The official celebration dinner was held at the Golf Club which was beautifully decked out in flags and gifts given to the club by visiting groups.
The birthday cake was made by Julie Kensen and decorated by Maryanne Mewburn and cut by club patron Jean McCallum.
