THE Casterton Memorial Hospital’s Murray- to- Moyne relay team has been in serious training preparing for the 22nd ride in the annual 24-hour marathon relay from Mildura to Port Fairy.
The team of eight riders and five support crew that will tackle the 540km is a very small team compared to others, but that has not deterred the team members from taking part in the ride, which has raised more than $180,000 for the hospital to buy much-needed equipment.
Riders include Duncan Wishart, Simon Povey, Stephen Mutch, Trevor Edwards, Michael Greenham, Paul Beauglehole, Andrew Edgar and Barb Toma and they will be supported by Shane Gill, Barry McKenzie, Jenelle East, Stacey Wishart and Shannon Hutchins.
Most riders are experienced having completed this event many times before with the exception of first time riders Andrew and Paul. This year will mark Barb Toma’s 21st consecutive ride with the Casterton team.
