MANY attendees of Portland Community Bingo have gown increasingly frustrated with what they believe are unnecessarily cold temperature inside the Fawthrop Centre building.
Every Thursday evening from 7pm to around 10pm bingo is held at the venue, with players claiming the air conditioning is excessively run when it is not needed.
The facility’s temperature is controlled by the Glenelg Shire Council with a council spokesperson saying it runs on a predetermined climate setting.
“The temperature of the centre is set to accommodate all users, both day and night,” the council spokesperson said.
“In summer, the temperature is set to keep the building at about 22C to anticipate for the warmest days, which can reach about 40C.”
The Portland Observer has been contacted by several bingo players in recent weeks, complaining of the low temperatures in the building.
