THE Heywood Pony club was inundated with almost 100 competitors on Sunday when it held its Annual Horse Trials.
Competitors travelled from along the Great Ocean Road, as far north as Dunkeld and from across South East South Australia for the event.
Heywood Pony Club District Commissioner Judy Jenkin said the 96 entries were about the perfect level for the club to be able to run a really smooth event and with almost perfect weather conditions on the day and some high quality riders and horses entering it made for an outstanding day of competition.
“The ballpark figure of around 100 is about perfect for us, we can run that well and have a fantastic day,” Jenkin said.
“The weather was great, it was a great day.
“We had that really good level of riders there for the younger kids to aspire to, and those young kids got out there and had a really good time.”
