SO, how does Cape Nelson Light Station compare with the best in Australia, even the world?
Very well indeed, according to some genuine experts, a group of 46 mostly American enthusiasts who annually travel to many dozens of lighthouses across the globe.

“I like visiting lighthouses because they’re usually in very attractive places that are a bit out of the way, not in the middle of a city.
This is a spectacular location here.”
Retta Thomas is from Covington, Ohio, another community far from the ocean. She’s toured the hundreds of light stations on the Great Lakes and is particularly impressed with how well maintained CapeNelson light is.
“So many lighthouses around the world need massive repairs,” she said. “They’re worth saving but the deterioration is noticeable.”
