A GERMAN tourist was killed after a head on collision on the Portland-Nelson Rd at Mt Richmond on Wednesday and two members of his family are in critical conditions in hospital.
The 52-year-old man was driving a campervan with four members of his family when it crossed on to the wrong side of the road and collided with a four-wheel-drive towing a caravan at about 2.45pm. The accident happened about one kilometre east of the Kentbruck lookout.
The man died at the scene while the other four family members were airlifted to various hospitals in Melbourne. An 18-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy were listed in critical conditions, with the woman taken to The Alfred with head and facial injuries and the boy was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital with head injuries.
