PORTLAND may have to take on Port Fairy without one of its trio of tall defenders in tomorrow’s Hampden Football League round two clash at Port Fairy, with Tigers vice captain Charlie Woodford a chance of missing the match.
Woodford is still trying to overcome a quad injury he carried through last weekend’s opening match, with the young key defender saying he may miss the match to give him two weeks’ break ahead of the Tigers’ Anzac Day clash with Hamilton.
“At this stage I might be the one missing out,” Woodford said.
“I went into last week with a slight quad strain and I got a bit of a corky in it late in the game.
“Because we have got next week off I’m going to talk to Mylsey (coach Jake Myles) about it and try and make sure I am right for the Anzac Day game.”
Woodford will not be the only omission from last weekend’s backline, with recruit Tom Gordon likely to return to VFL level this weekend.
