PORTLAND has been included as a port of call on P&O Cruises 2015-16 cruise program, with the Pacific Jewel expected to berth in the city six times from February next year.
The Pacific Jewel is the second cruise ship currently scheduled to arrive in Portland after the highly successful visit of the MS Europa last month.
A spokeswoman for P&O Cruises said the inclusion of Portland in the program will see the Pacific Jewel will make three calls in February and March 2015 and a further three calls are scheduled in February and March 2016.
“Each time a cruise ship visits a regional port like Portland it’s worth an estimated half a million dollars to the local economy,” the spokeswoman said.
The Pacific Jewel will also sail on enhanced South Australia and Tasmania itineraries ranging from five to 11 nights and featuring visits to Portland, KangarooIsland, Burnie, Port Arthur and Port Lincoln.
Chairman of the Portland Cruise Ship Working Group, Ray Gilby, said it was fantastic that P&O Cruises had recognised Portland as a location to berth.
