WHAT’S been described as “…the biggest event since the Powerhouse Motor and Car Museum opened in 1987” is now at the midway stage.
Local contractors G.R. Carr are building a major new extension to the popular museum, according to Portland Vintage Car Club president Stephen Shepherd.
“The expansion will provide space for new toilets for the disabled as well as a meeting room that can also be used for preparation of our newsletter,” he said.
“Freeing up space in the old part of the building means we’ll be able to place more exhibits there.”
Welcoming more than 4000 visitors a year, the museum will be able to better cater for visiting car enthusiast clubs, he said.
