GENEROSITY is the spirit the Country Fire Authority is hoping for this Friday when volunteers set out to collect money for the Good Friday Appeal in Portland, Heywood and Narrawong.
In Portland the full brigade will be out driving the streets between 9am to 5.30pm, and are asking for residents to consider the cause and give what they can.
The Good Friday Appeal has been raising money for equipment, research, and education at the Royal Children’s Hospital since 1931, with a total of $16,405,534.65 raised in Victoria last year.
District 4 operations officer Gary Harker said the appeal was close to home for anyone with children.
“Please be generous, it’s for a worthy cause and you know, we all have small children,” Mr Harker said.
Portland and Heywood residents managed to raise nearly $35,000 last year, with Mr Harker hoping to overtake those efforts this Friday.
