TYRENDARRA is one of just two unbeaten teams in the South West District Netball League after the opening two rounds, holding off a strong Branxholme-Wallacedale outfit by one goal at Tyrendarra on Saturday.
It was a superb effort from the Darras to fight back from a half time deficit to claim the win on their first game on the rebuilt Tyrendarra courts.
The Saints set the pace through the early stages of the game, with some exceptional passing and precise leads in the attacking end opening up a four-goal lead before Tyrendarra was able to score.
The Darras slowly worked their way back into the game once they got on the board and by quarter time had cut the margin back to two.
Lauren Mitchell was dominant through the opening quarter for the Saints, scoring nine straight for her side.
The Saints again took the initiative early in the second quarter, with the contests between Mitchell at goal shooter and Tyrendarra’s Kate Nunn at goal keeper and Megan O’Dowd at goal attack and the Darras’ Meagan Bothe a feature of the quarter.
